On behalf of the pupils, staff and governors, welcome to Barby CE Primary School and our website.
Part of Peterborough Diocese Education Trust, Barby School is a small rural primary school which prides itself on providing a warm, caring environment where everyone feels valued and recognised, and where there is a strong commitment to the welfare and well-being of children.
Message from the interim Headteacher, Mr Jonathan Gardiner
This is a small, friendly, rural school with a welcoming ethos where children are at the heart of what we do.
As well as a ‘broad and balanced’ curriculum, we provide opportunities for children to take part in other activities such as culture days, cookery, music lessons and a full programme of extra-curricular activities. We want children to develop their talents and to develop new strengths during their time here. We seek to recognise and reward effort and achievement with house points and through our celebration assemblies each week.
We might be a small school, but we are outward looking and we embrace any opportunity to engage with our local community and the wider world. We have a wonderful site that includes a natural spinney, a large outdoor classroom, a trim trail, class gardens, a games field, a playground and a vegetable garden. There are areas for quiet play and a contemplation garden is planned. Inside, the school is bright and welcoming with children’s work in evidence on the walls.
Our children are proud of their school and enjoy showing visitors around. They tell us that they enjoy coming to school, that adults listen to them and deal promptly with any problems. Relationships are central to our school. The staff team is highly professional and motivated to ensure the very best for all our children. We value the positive relationships that we enjoy with parents here and believe that by working together, we can equip children with the skills and knowledge they need for a happy, fulfilled, successful future.
