YEAR 1 and YEAR 2: TOGETHER WORKING FROM HOME

Home Learning:  Well done, for getting through this week and I hope you are all safe and well.  For those you who are engaged with Class Dojo its been lovely seeing photos of the different activities the children are up to in their portfolios.  Please however don't worry if you are not uploading and sending things; at the end of the home learning project document today there is an article from a headteachers facebook page, which if you read,
will make you all feel so much better!  We are in this together, and we are here to help.

Spring 1:

This term we will start by looking at settings and writing a detailed description for the start of a story.  We will use the book 'Pumpkin Soup' by Helen Cooper as our focus, this will then lead into non fiction writing related to instructions.  In Maths we will continue our daily maths meetings recapping and introduce a range of mathematical language and concepts, our main focus will be (grouping and sharing) multiplication and division.  History will look at 'how kings and queens have changed our lives today' and science is all about the 'human body,' identifying parts of the body, looking at our five senses and understanding what we need to do to keep us healthy.  PE we will be using REAL PE with a focus on coordination and footwork.

Spring 2:

In English we will finish our instructional writing and as part of Design and Technology will look at our cooking skills to make delicious vegetable soup.  Then we will read an African Folktale to look at a how a journey tale evolves.  In Maths we will continue our daily maths meetings recapping on our skills so far, and look at fractions and measurement including height and length.  Art will focus on printing linked to our African stories and PE will focus on Social: dynamic balancing incorporating jumping and landing.  Science will investigate animals and RE's questions are What do Christians Believe God is like? and Why does Easter matter?
