Pupil Premium


The pupil premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and to close the gaps between them and their peers.

Ofsted's school inspections report on the attainment and progress of disadvantaged pupils who attract the pupil premium.

School must publish their strategy for using the pupil premium on their website.

Pupil Premium Conditions of Grant 2016 to 2017

The Secretary of State for Education lays down the following terms and conditions on which assistant is given in relation to the pupil premium grant (PPG) payable to schools and local authorities for the financial year beginning 1 April 2016.

PPG provides funding for two policies:

  • raising attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities to reach their potential
  • supporting children and young people with parents in the the regular armed forces
