Admissions & Appeals
Applications for admission to Barby Primary School should be made via Northamptonshire County Council (please click to be redirected to their website and further information). Applications are currently being invited for entry into Reception in 2019; however, as we also have spaces in most year groups, applications for in-year transfers are also being accepted (please ring the school for further information in the first instance).
Please click here to view our full Admissions Policy for 2019; however, in summary, should the school become oversubscribed, the following criteria will be applied:
Places will be allocated to pupils who have Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans that name the school as appropriate provision. When there are more applications for subsequent places than there are places available, priority will be given in the following order:
- Children in public care or previously in public care but immediately after became subject to an adoption, residence or special guardianship order (for a full definition, please see below*)
- Pupils who live in the linked area (Barby and Onley)
- Pupils with an older brother or sister continuing at the school at the time of admission of the younger child
- Children, one of whose parents attended Barby CE Primary School or who lived in Barby or Onley for at least 5 years since 2001. (Documentary evidence will be required to confirm that this criterion is met)
- Other children.
If the admission number is exceeded within any other criterion, priority will be given to those who live closest to the school.
Please note that the dates for 2019 are as follows:
The closing date for applications for a September 2019 school place is Tuesday 15th January 2019 (5.p.m)
16th April 2019 - Local Authority notifies parents of Primary School Allocations.
Following the National Offer day on Tuesday 16th April 2019, the deadline for lodging an on-time appeal is Friday 24th May 2019 (9.a.m)
The Appeal Clerk will send notification of the Hearing (Venue, Time and Date) and the Statement of Case to the Appellants by Saturday 4th June 2019.
Proposed appeal hearing dates are between Thursday 20th June 2019 and Tuesday 25th June 2019 inclusive. Decision letters will be sent out within 5 days of the appeal hearing, subject to any unforeseen circumstances.
