Admissions & Appeals

Applications for admission to Barby CE Primary School should be made via Northamptonshire County Council (please click to be redirected to their website and for further information). Applications are currently being invited for entry into Reception in 2020; however, as we also have spaces in most year groups, applications for in-year transfers are also being accepted. Please follow the link to view our full Admissions Policy for 2020, however, in summary, should the school become oversubscribed, the following criteria will be applied:


Places will be allocated to pupils who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) that name the School as appropriate provision. When there are more applications for subsequent places than there are places available, priority will be given in the following order:

  • Children in public care or previously in public care but immediately after became subject to an adoption, residence or special guardianship order.
  • Pupils who live in the linked area (Barby and Onley)
  • Pupils with an older brother or sister continuing at the School at the time of admission of the younger child.
  • Children who have a parent who attended Barby CE Primary School or a parent who lived in Barby or Onley for at least 5 years since 2001. Documentary evidence will need to be provided to confirm that this criterion is met.
  • Other children.

Tiebreaker: If the admission number is exceeded within any other criterion, priority will be given to those who live closest to the School. 


Consultation on Admission Arrangements for September 2021


All admission authorities are required to formally consult if they propose to make any changes to their admission arrangements for the following school year. We are currently consulting on our admission arrangements for September 2021 and you can find a copy of our proposed admission arrangements here:

Please note that the dates for 2020 are as follows:

The closing date/ time for applications for a September 2020 school place is Wednesday 15th January 2020 at 5.p.m

Local Authority notifies parents of Primary School allocations- Thursday 16th April 2020. 

Following the National Offer on 16th April 2020 parents may lodge an appeal. The Appeal Clerk will send notification of the Hearing (venue, time and date) and the Statement of the Case.

Appeals will be heard during June/ July 2020.
