The School Day & Homework Timetable

 

The School Day

The school day begins at 9am and finishes at 3.15pm. Reception children and years 1 & 2 break for lunch at 12.00 noon, with the juniors (years 3, 4, 5, & 6) beginning their lunch at 12.30pm. Afternoon school begins at 1.00 for the younger children and 1.15pm for the juniors.

With mornings generally dedicated to mathematics and English, with the afternoons given over to topic and other work, the rest of the timetable for the week is as follows:

Homework

Acorns

Reception: reading as much as possible. Children have a book in which to record any activities undertaken, with parents, to extend the learning that has taken place in school during the preceding week.

 

Woodpeckers

Year 1: reading, spellings and spelling sentences (set on Monday for the following Monday)

 

Squirrels

Year 2: reading, spellings (set on Monday for the following Monday), English and maths (set on Wednesday for the following Wednesday)

 

Owls

Years 3 & 4: reading, spellings (set on Monday for the following Friday), English and maths (set on Wednesday for the following Monday)

 

Oaks

Years 5 & 6: spellings (set on Monday for the following Friday), English and maths (set on Tuesday for the following Friday), occasional individual projects and topic work
