Admissions & Appeals

Applications for admission to Barby Primary School should be made via Northamptonshire County Council (please click to be redirected to their website and further information). Applications are currently being invited for entry into Reception in 2016; however, as we also have spaces in most year groups, applications for in-year transfers are also being accepted (please ring the school for further information in the first instance).

The full Admissions Policy for 2017 can be accessed by following the link; however, in summary, should the school become oversubscribed (we currently accept up to 30 children in Reception and 20 in years 1 to 6), the following criteria will be applied:

Places will be allocated to pupils who have a statement of Special Educational Needs that names the school as appropriate provision. When there are more applications for subsequent places than there are places available, priority will be given in the following order:

  1. Children in public care or previously in public care but immediately after became subject to an adoption, residence or special guardianship order (for a full definition, please see below*)
  2. Pupils who live in the linked area (Barby and Onley)
  3. Pupils with an older brother or sister continuing at the school at the time of admission of the younger child
  4. Other pupils

If the admission number is exceeded within criterion 2, priority will be given to those who live furthest from the nearest alternative school.  If the admission number is exceeded within any other criterion, priority will be given to those who live closest to the school.
