Admissions & Appeals

 

Applications for admission to Barby Primary School should be made via Northamptonshire County Council (please click to be redirected to their website and further information). Applications are currently being invited for entry into Reception in 2019; however, as we also have spaces in most year groups, applications for in-year transfers are also being accepted (please ring the school for further information in the first instance).

 

The full Admissions Policy for 2019 can be accessed by following the link; however, in summary, should the school become oversubscribed, the following criteria will be applied:

 

Places will be allocated to pupils who have a statement of Special Educational Needs that names the school as appropriate provision. When there are more applications for subsequent places than there are places available, priority will be given in the following order:

  1. Children in public care or previously in public care but immediately after became subject to an adoption, residence or special guardianship order (for a full definition, please see below*)
  2. Pupils who live in the linked area (Barby and Onley)
  3. Pupils with an older brother or sister continuing at the school at the time of admission of the younger child
  4. Other pupils

Tiebreaker:

If the admission number is exceeded within any other criterion, priority will be given to those who live closest to the school.

Appeals Timetable:

Please note that the dates for 2018 are as follows: 

 

Closing date for applications for a September 2019 school place.

15th January 2019 5pm

 

16th April 2019 - Local Authority notifies parents of Primary School Allocations.

Following the National Offer day on the 16th April 2018, the deadline for lodging an on-time appeal is the 16 May. Proposed appeal hearing dates are week beginning 10 June and 17 June . Decision letters will be sent out within 5 days of the appeal hearing, subject to any unforeseen circumstances.

 

Last date for parents to submit Notice of Appeal form to Peterborough Diocese  Trust (Notice of Appeal available from the Diocesan Offices)
